Ingredients:

The 5 ingredients you will need to make this Yummy Neufchatel Cream Frosting:

Neufchatel cheese or cream cheese: You can use anyone of them to prepare your cheese frosting. Both are dense, soft and smooth. I decided to make my frosting with neufchatel cheese because it contains 23% milk fat, 10 less fat percentage than cream cheese wich has 33% milk fat. So, it would be up to you which one of these two you want to use for your frosting. Either way it will still be good.

Heavy whipping Cream: The whipping cream will help our Neufchatel Cream Frosting to get the fluffy and stiff consistency we need.

  • Can I use alternative heavy whipping cream? Yes, this is a choice that will reduce milk fat on our recipe. If you decide on this alternative choice, be sure to adding 10 g of stabilizer for whipping cream, that way we will get the fluffy and stiff consistency in our alternative heavy whipping cream.

Butter: For our Neufchatel Cream Frosting, we will need 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. This is a reduced amount of butter, comparing to the quantity of butter we need to make a regular buttercream frosting.

  • Can I use vegan butter? Yes, try to look for an unsalted vegan butter stick and not butter spread. The vegan butter sticks are harder than the ones that come in a container. We don’t want to get a runny consistency in our frosting.

Sweetener: For this recipe I used powdered monk fruit sweetener with erythritol. This will provide a good taste, low carbs, smooth texture and structure to my frosting.

Vanilla extract: Use one with strong taste to give flavor to our Neufchatel Cream Frosting.

Salt: A pinch of salt will be enough to give balance to the sweetness of our Neufchatel Cream Frosting.

How to make this Yummy Neufchatel Cream Frosting?

  • Have your neufchatel cream, butter and heavy whipping cream room temperature before using it.
  • Whisk with a stand mixer or hand mixer with the heavy whipping cream apart from the neufchatel cream and butter. We need to mix the heavy whipping cream separately to get a fluffy consistency and that peaks from our cream.

Tip: Don’t over beat the heavy whipping cream, that would end up in a firm texture. We want our frosting to have structure but we also want our frosting to be smooth and fluffy.

  • In a different bowl, whip the neufchatel cream with powdered sugar, salt and vanilla.
  • Fold slowly the neufchatel cream, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla with the whipped heavy cream. Then, use the mixer until everything is fully combined and fluffy.
