Four Steps To Homemade Nutella

Four Steps To Homemade Nutella

My craving for chocolate and nuts have inspired me to make a Homemade Nutella that requires just four easy steps to make it.

It is kind of hard to find an option that is free of refined sugar or oils that may lead to inflammatory issues in our body. So, why not to make our own Nutella treat that will be good for our body and satisfy that little craving!

You will love the flavor of these roasted hazelnuts combined with cocoa powder and vanilla. The texture of the Four Steps To Homemade Nutella is both crispy and creamy.

You can use it in other recipes to make brownies or crepes with Nutella, pancakes, or to spread on your banana bread. (If you are looking for a moist and healthy banana bread, look for my Nutritious Banana Bread.) You also can use the Four Steps To Homemade Nutella to spread on your toast.

The use of this recipe is infinite! Inspire yourself and prepare this version, or make changes that fit to your needs and preferences!

Making Nutella is so easy but will require 30-40 minutes to get a smooth consistency. Keep in mind that the homemade Nutella will look thinner than regular Nutella, but the taste will be as good as the one we can get at the grocery store!

The ingredients of Four Steps To Homemade Nutella

There are only 6 ingredients to the Four Steps to Homemade Nutella

Hazelnuts: If you can find pealed hazelnuts, they will be a time savor. However, the ones with skin will work too. Toast your hazelnuts for about 8- 10 minutes in the oven at 350F.

Let them cool for 5 minutes and rub the sides with a towel to peel the skin off.

Unflavor coconut oil: The oil will help our Nutella to get that smooth consistency we want. For my recipe I am using unflavored coconut oil but you also can use hazelnut, walnut or almond oil.

Powdered sugar: I used the one that combines monk fruit with erythritol.

Salt: Will be bring balance to our sweetener and will pair well with the flavor of the hazelnuts.

Cocoa powered: Try to choose a good quality one.

HOW TO MAKE THE FOUR STEPS TO HOMEMADE NUTELLA

  1. Roast the hazelnuts for about 8-10 minutes. It would be easier to peel the hazelnuts. I got mine unpeeled and roast. However, I toasted mine for about 5 minutes to let the nutty flavor and oil came out from the hazelnuts. I did it in a saucepan, low heat. ( see the notes below on the recipe card to know how much homemade Nutella you can make with the given hazelnuts proportion).

TIP: If you are using the unpeeled hazelnuts, let them cool down for about 5 minutes. Then, grap a kitchen towel, place the nuts and rub the sides to help loosen the peels off.

2. Toss the hazelnuts is a food processor and run until smooth. The processing time may vary, depending on the food processor you are using. The consistency you are looking while processing the hazelnuts is when they start having an almost oily and shiny surface.

3. Drizzle some oil to help thin and get the smooth consistency we want.

4. Add the powder sugar, vanilla and salt and keep processing until you see a creamy consistency.

TIPS: If you see your mixture seems to be dense, you can add 1/2 tsp of heavy cream or milk to get the creamy texture we want. If you do more than that, you will get a runny consistency. (You can use alternative milk or heavy cream).
