- Use vegan butter or dairy-free butter. It must be softened to room temperature. Do not microwave or you will get a runny mess on your hands.
- Beat the butter with the vanilla extract until creamy.
- Add 1 cup of powdered refined sugar-free at a time, until it’s completely mixed in.
- If your buttercream gets thick, drizzle with a non-dairy milk of your preference. 1 tablespoon at a time. Mix until it becomes light and fluffy.
- If you see your mixture is too light, add a tablespoon of powdered refined sugar-free.

Absolutely, you can store it in the fridge for 1 week and a half! It will firm up, so when you want to use it on your recipes, let it warm for a few minutes at room temperature. You can leave frosting cupcakes at room temperature for 1or 2 days. The frosting will keep its texture, especially if it is kept cold.

Dairy-Free Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup (328 g) vegan butter
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
- 2 ½ – cups (280 g) powdered refined sugar-free
- 3-4 tbsp (45-60 ml) dairy-free milk
Instructions
- With the mixer on low-medium speed, place the softened vegan butter with the vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add 1 cup of powdered sugar at a time. Scrape the sides of the bowl as needed.
- If the frosting is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of dairy-free milk at a time. At this point, increase the speed to high. Beat for about 30 seconds or so, until light and fluffy. If the frosting is too runny, add a 1/2 of powdered sugar until the desired consistency is reached.
- Use immediately or store frosting in the fridge for about 1 week.
